A Skincare Factsheet For The Curious
If you're not into it, don't bother scrolling to the bottom for special discounts!
If you’re new here, I’ll share some context on where this is coming from. If you’ve been following my last few posts, feel free to skip this part of the shtick—unless you’re obsessed with my writing.

Long-story-short, after several years in the industry and a second degree in Fashion, I decided to transition to the Beauty industry. Primarily because I live for a new challenge! I’ve spent the last two years working on scaling some promising skincare start-ups—and I made real strides too. Then I got laid off, and with every passing week, I felt myself losing motivation. That’s when I decided to revisit an old passion, my podcast. With the help of my creative genius bestie, Anmol, we rebranded and launched a multi-hyphenate Roster Radio. One of the hyphens is this journal, one is the podcast (mine was the first fashion podcast in India back in 2019), and the most exciting avenue are the live events in New York City.
With that, I planned my first Roster Radio LIVE: The Beauty Discourse event, which sold out (with 5 people on the waitlist), a full week before the event.
Psst, fellow New Yorkers, the bottom of this post has discounts for Glowbar, your next injectables appointment at Velour Medical, and a special hair colorist recommendation.
When I reached out to friends at NeilsenIQ to help me prep my questions, they offered to send over some category trends for facial skincare. Let’s just say, some of these facts were pretty surprising! While I saved a lot of the relevant data points for my panel, here's a rundown of some other fun facts:
Snail Slime is the fastest growing ingredient with consumer interest at a 2336% growth. Despite the ethical concerns associated with the extraction of mucin, it tops salicylic acid in sales volume too.
Microbiome is the top emerging wellness support trend in the skincare category, with a 179% growth over the past 52 weeks.
Moisturizer has the skincare category in a chokehold, with a 46.6% share.
CeraVe ranks #3 in $ sales, preceded by Olay at #2 (who the hell is still using Olay?), and Neutrogena at #1.
Everyone and their mothers are looking to buy paraben-free skincare at 80.2% of the category.
Bubble Skincare is the fastest growing skincare brand in the category, seeing 893.3% growth over 52 weeks.
Facial skincare is the #1 category on TikTok Shop!
Amazon continues to capture $ growth and unit growth, in the facial skincare category.
I’ll continue to share other fun facts to keep you in-the-know! After all, Roster Radio was founded to foster knowledge-sharing and thought-leadership across the length and breadth of the beauty community (and other communities where curiosity is queen-ing)💄🎙💭
On that note, here are some Roster Radio community discounts for you:
Use my special code, ROSTER, for $$ off your first Glowbar facial.
Use my special code, RRL15, for $$ off your injectables or botox appointment with Cyma, at Velour Medical.
Get on my favorite hair colorist Jean's radar for a $100 color service on Sundays! Her work is the best.
If you’re curious about Roster Radio LIVE, the skincare data, or anything else, drop a comment. In the meantime, my lovelies, stay tuned for more industry tea, updates on Roster Radio LIVE, and of course, the podcast.
